How to turn on 2-Factor Authentication

What is 2FA?

Security is crucial for any platform that stores and distributes sensitive information. Ensuring only the right people see and access the right information while safeguarding against vulnerabilities is an important task.

That’s why we’ve added the option for users to turn on 2-Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA uses an authenticator app on a mobile device to verify a user by generating a unique 6-digit code that the user types into a login screen.

For more information on how 2FA works, check out this helpful Google article.

How to turn on 2FA as an existing user

Activating 2FA for your Easy Board account can be achieved by following these steps:

  1. Download & initialize an authenticator app on your mobile device. We recommend using either Microsoft or Google’s authenticator app.

  2. Login to your Easy Board account and navigate to your Account Settings page by clicking on your profile avatar (upper right) and selecting “Account Settings”.

  3. Switch the “Enable 2-Factor Authentication” toggle to the ‘on’ position.

  4. Confirm by submitting your password in the pop-up.

  5. After the QR code appears on your screen, open the authenticator app on your mobile device and “Add” a new account, opting to add by using your device’s camera.

  6. Hold up the camera to the QR code image. Your camera should detect the code and add the account automatically.

  7. Plug in the 6-digit code from the mobile app into the slots below the Easy Board QR code image.

Congratulations, you’ve successfully enabled 2FA!

Moving forward, here are a couple things to keep in mind:

  • Once activated, you will need to submit a 2FA code from your mobile auth app every time you login to Easy Board.

  • You may deactivate at any time by navigating to your account settings page and switching the “2-Factor Authentication” toggle off.

A special note for board admins: currently, Easy Board does not support automatic board-level enforcement of 2FA. This security feature is optional for each user on our platform.

To check whether someone on your board has 2FA enabled, go to People > switch to list view > click the button with three vertical lines (upper right) > check the “2-Factor Auth” check box > and use the 2FA drop down to filter accordingly.
